About me

Sandro Michahelles born in Viareggio on October 1st, 1964 a Swiss-American citizenship. He started photography at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the University of Minnesota School of Journalism with Donna Schwartz, Nan Richardson and Philip Jones Griffiths. Photographer's assistant at commercial photography studios in Minneapolis-St Paul-USA.Worked at North Light Lab in Minneapolis, Tom Berthiaume's professional black and white laboratory with Rich Siha. He obtained a scholarship at the Cornell Capa, International Center of Photography in New York City attending a documentary photography and photojournalism with Joan Liftin and Charles Harbutt. He worked at Magnum Photo in New York City as a photo archivist and black and white printer. He began working as a professional photographer in 1993 in the United States focusing his work in the publishing and editorial world. He returned to Italy in 1996 where he continued his activity as a professional photographer working with major Italian and foreign publishing houses. In 2000 he became part of the Italian journalists publishers. He has been part of the Sintesi photographic agency in Rome since 1996. He is focused on photographic portraiture. He has a large image archive of people linked to the world of fashion, economics, politics, art, sport, entertainment and music. He works and lives in Florence as a professional photographer.
